From childhood we are told by our parents how important are vitamins for us. Since our body cannot manufacture these essential compounds on their own and neither can survive without these, we need to take it in our diet.
The number of vitamins in a human body is thirteen and can be categorized into two types, that is water soluble which get dissolved in water and fat soluble which are dissolved by fats. The ones that are fat soluble are Vitamin A, D, E and K and the ones which are soluble in water are B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B8, B9 and B12 and B15.

The best way to take in vitamins is to incorporate it in one's food. One can get vitamin A, B1, B2, B5, B6, B8, B12 and B15 in eggs. We get vitamin C in tomatoes, vitamin D in butter and through sunlight, vitamin E and F in sunflower seeds and vitamin k in lemon all of which are easily available.

in human beings can cause severe ailments like bad eyesight which is caused due to the deficiency of vitamin A and vitamin B2. Lack of vitamin B1 can affect one's fertility , vitamin B3 deficiency can cause pellagra and lack of vitamin C can cause scurvy.
Vitamin supplements can also make unavoidable things like menopause a little easier as these are caused by hormones and hormones are made up of vitamins. Some severe ones like heart diseases which are genetic in nature can also be controlled by some of the vitamins like vitamin B3 helps in reducing cholesterol which can cause heart attack if it gets deposited on the walls of the arteries in our heart.
Deficiency of some of the vitamins can also make us look ugly like lack of vitamin B - complex can cause our hair to lose its natural colour and shine and we can also start losing hair. Vitamin B5 helps in combating acne. Presence of adequate amount of vitamin D in our body is very important for a healthy skin without which it lacks luster and becomes dry.
In cases when the deficiency has already occurred one can take vitamin supplements present in the form of tablets and liquids. These are available in all pharmaceutical stores.
