Everybody knows the importance of vitamins in our body. They are the organic compounds required by an organism for healthy growth of our body parts. Though required in small amount, they are essential component of our food. Either its our brain or body; both need enough quantity of several minerals and this essential component for proper growth and development. A deficiency of any component of food can engender some disease in our body. Same is the case here.

Types of vitamins
Water soluble vitamins- this category of food component cannot be stored in body. Hence they should be taken in food. Generally Vitamin B and C fall into this category. These can be easily washed out or destroyed during over-cooking and food storage. These are absorbed in our intestine and passes directly to the blood. Then they are carried to the tissues in which they can be utilized. These are excreted in urine on daily basis.
Fat soluble vitamins- vitamins A, D, E, and K fall into this category. Once these are absorbed into intestinal tract, the body stores them in body fats. These should not be consumed in excess, as they get store in the body and cause side effects. Unlike the above mentioned category, these are not required by body daily, but they are needed to maintain good health.
